Content Mix (video and still images)
We suggest using a mix of both video and still images in your DVD supplement. For best results, submission of video clips of approximately 8-10 seconds in length is preferred. School Annual will then break the clips provided into segments of approximately 4-6 seconds in length for the best effect in the final project.

Content Outline
If breaking your DVD into separate categories per song such as Homecoming, Prom, Graduation, etc., the recommended method of constructing your DVD project is as follows:

1. Create an outline for the DVD supplement using five categories. Indicate category topic and song title for each of the five categories. Write down the length of each song.
2. Determine the number of video clips (4-6 seconds each) you will have for each song.
3 Determine the number of digital images needed for each song to use the remaining amount of time for that song.
4. Keep in mind that each image will be visible for approximately 2 seconds in the final DVD.

Example:

1. Category 1 - Graduation, Song Title - "Into the World." 2. Song 1 ("Into the World") is 186 seconds long (3 minutes, 6 seconds). 3. Four video clips of approximately 5 seconds each will be included (4 x 5 = 20 seconds). 4. Twenty seconds of the 186 seconds have been used, leaving 166 seconds. Each image takes 2 seconds. Eighty-three images are needed for the remainder of the song (166/2 =83).

Content Submission
Remember to identify "must use" images and video clips by documenting them on the special instructions section in the Final Submission form and by placing them in a "must use" folder on the CD or DVD you send School Annual. Name the folder by song title. All other content can be placed in a second folder for that specific song. If you are not breaking your content into different categories, then "Must Use" content can be submitted in one folder and all other content in a second folder.
Example (using song title from previous example above):

:\Into_The_World\Must Use\
:\Into_The_World\
:\Song_Title_2\Must Use\

:\Song_Title_2\

Every effort will be made to accommodate the instructions found in the Final Submission form. Due to the creative nature of this product, no guarantee can be given that all material will be used exactly in the manner originally intended.

File Formats
Digital images should be at least 640x480 (2MP 1600x1200 or larger preferred). The following formats are preferred JPEG, TIFF, PNG, PDF, PSD and BMP. The preferred Video format is uncompressed .AVI or .DV files. Other formats such as MPEG and MOV are acceptable as well. As a general rule, video files should be saved in the highest quality possible. Once quality is lost in compression it is not possible to improve the quality of the video on your DVD.

School Annual can scan print photographs and digitize video. However, material submitted will not be returned. Duplicate copies are encouraged. School Annual can convert video footage from the following formats: MiniDV, Digital8, Hi8, or VHS. If you are not able to edit these videos down to clips, be sure to specify the exact portions of the video to be used in the special instructions section of the Final Submission form.
